He holds an MBA from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh where in 1990 he graduated as one of the ten best students in his year; this despite a collision which cost him both of his legs and ten months in hospital during the course of his studies.
He also holds an MBA from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow and in 2011 was awarded an honorary doctorate from Heriot-Watt for extraordinary achievements and innovation within the field of investment consultancy and for his contribution as an inspiration for other amputees.
